The Community Development Department provides a variety of land use, zoning, and building services. Inspectors and Planners are on staff to assist you through the entire development process. The department is led by the following people:

The Department encourages quality growth and development throughout the City by ensuring compliance with all development standards and design requirements. The responsibilities of the Department include:
Application of the Comprehensive Plan
Compliance with the Zoning Ordinance
Management and review of site plans and plats
Building and improvement plan review
Issuance of building permits
Construction Inspection
Administering the occupancy program
Property maintenance code enforcement
Prior to submitting an application for a variance, zoning map amendment, conditional use permit, site development or plat; applicants are encouraged to schedule a pre-application meeting. During this meeting staff will discuss with the applicant the review and approval process of the particular application and answer questions as needed. The City has adopted the 2018 International Building Codes, with amendments as of January 1, 2023. We are in the process of updating our website with the new codes, but until then you can still reference the 2009 International Building Codes, with amendments here.
