The historic Red Cedar Inn is a Route 66 icon and one of Pacific's most celebrated historic properties.
The City purch20180719_073709ased this building in late 2017 and intends to develop it as a new Welcome Center / Museum. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a recognized Route 66 landmark.
The City in July 2018 issued a Request for Qualifications for architectural / planning services to help assess the building condition and make recommendations for necessary improvements. A committee was formed to review the submittals and after interviews with four firms the committee selected Patterhn-Ives LLC for the project.
The Board of Aldermen in November 2018 accepted an agreement with Patterhn-Ives for the initial "Phase 1" planning and programming. That work has now been completed and the final report was presented to the Board of Aldermen at its November 19, 2019 meeting. A copy of the final report is available here.
More information on this project will be posted as the work progresses.
