Pacific Board of Aldermen Pass Ordinance Relating to Vision-Reducing Material on Windshields and Windows
Posted 9/2/09

Effective immediately, car owners with tinted windows should be aware that a new ordinance relating to the "vision-reducing material on windshields and windows" was passed into law. Pacific Ordinance 2729 - Section 385.355(A) reads as follows:

Any person may operate a motor vehicle with front sidewing vents or windows located immediately to the left and right of the driver that have a sun-screening device, in conjunction with safety glazing material, that has a light transmission or thirty-five (35%) or more plus or minus three percent (3%) and a luminous reflectance of thirty-five percent (35%) or less plus or minus three percent (3%).

The basis of the new ordinance concerns officer safety. The ordinance mirrors the State of Missouri's law on vision-reducing material on windshields and windows. Pacific's new ordinance will be administered through local municipal court.

Anyone with further questions about the new ordinance can contact the Pacific Police Department at 636-257-2424.
